The human body relies on electrical signals for various functions and these electrical signals are essential for proper bodily function. Electrolytes are minerals in the body that carry an electric charge. Common electrolytes include sodium, potassium, calcium, bicarbonate, magnesium, chloride and phosphate. Electrolytes reside in the fluids throughout the body, such as the blood and our cells, holding either a positive or negative charge that enables them to work among each other to create chemical reactions required by the body. Electrolytes are different than enzymes, but just as vital for survival. In fact, all electrolytes are classified as essential minerals — meaning they cannot be created in the body, instead they must be acquired by the body through diet and supplementation. Maintaining a proper balance of electrolytes is essential for general health and performance. A balanced level of electrolytes promotes hydration, supports strong muscle function and supports overall vitality. Each electrolyte has its own unique story, harnessing special properties that help equip the body to maintain its functions, such as promoting hydration and supporting muscle and cognitive function. Sodium is essential for maintaining fluid balance and promoting muscle function. It must be in a healthy balance with other electrolytes — which is why utilizing an electrolyte formula can be so beneficial and consuming excess sodium in processed foods is problematic. Sodium also plays a critical role in osmosis, allowing for the proper distribution of fluids across cell membranes. Chloride works closely with sodium to maintain fluid balance and osmotic pressure. It is a key component of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, which is necessary for digestion and the absorption of nutrients. Chloride is crucial for supporting normal cellular functions. Potassium is vital for proper muscle function, including the heart muscle, and is crucial for supporting cellular metabolism. It works alongside sodium to balance sodium within the body, similar to the relationship magnesium and calcium have to one another.

Magnesium is involved in more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body, including energy production, protein synthesis and muscle function. Magnesium malate, specifically, combines magnesium with malic acid, which is involved in the Krebs cycle and helps produce ATP, the energy currency of the cell. This form of magnesium is particularly beneficial for muscle health and metabolic fitness, making it essential for both physical and cognitive performance. Take your hydration to new heights with our refreshing, tart, lemon-lime flavored electrolyte mix, optimally designed for athletes, busy professionals and anyone looking to stay on top of their physical and mental game. Tower+ Electrolyte Mix is optimized for ultimate bioavailability and to deliver faster hydration through its select ingredients, black pepper extract and no-sugar approach to your day! Exercise, hiking and other physical and mental demands of the body affect electrolyte levels. A balance of electrolytes can have impacts on everything from energy levels to muscle function. With over half the body’s makeup being water, it’s important that we help replenish the loss of electrolytes daily. Tower+ Electrolyte Mix includes four of the most important electrolytes — sodium, chloride, potassium and magnesium. The body’s most vital and abundant electrolyte ion is sodium. Due to the value salt provided for the body and sustaining life, it was nicknamed “white gold” and used as payment or “salary” in medieval times. Sodium, which primarily resides in the fluid within the cells, plays a large role in the absorption of nutrients by passing them through the cell membrane. Tower+ Electrolyte Mix is formulated with pure, dark pink Himalayan salt. Largely due to its natural remote location, Himalayan salt is regarded as the purest in form as it goes through minimal processing and is free of pollutants such as microplastics that other salts naturally encounter from the environment. Pink Himalayan salt is recognized for its trace mineral content, which is also responsible for its pink hue, as it naturally contains the highest amount of essential trace minerals compared with standard salt and electrolyte solutions on the market.

Sodium and chloride have neutralizing effects on each other and are recognized as the most important electrolytes within the blood. The Himalayan salt in Tower+ Electrolyte Mix plays a balancing act with potassium by helping to support normal fluid balance which promotes hydration within the cells. In addition, they both help support proper muscle function, demonstrating their importance for helping maintain energy and muscular performance during athletic performance. Tower+ Electrolyte Mix contains a full gram of sodium — balanced with other electrolytes, making it different than a high sodium diet that is derived from processed food, foods rich in sugar or foods prepared with high amounts of preservatives. In fact, studies show that if you remove processed foods from an individual’s diet you may bring their sodium levels well below the adequate amounts needed for healthy energy and athleticism. Adequate sodium levels are crucial for overall bodily function and coordination. Tower+ Electrolyte Mix provides a balanced ratio of the most vital electrolytes for the body, including higher ingredient amounts of sodium and chloride, since they are depleted the most through sweat. Both potassium and magnesium have properties that may support cognitive performance, such as mental focus and attention. By helping you maintain higher levels of these essential minerals, you can support clear thinking, promoting overall mental clarity. In addition to supporting physical performance and muscle function, magnesium supports healthy energy and metabolism at the cellular level by helping the body convert absorbed nutrients into energy. Reports demonstrate that many Americans are not reaching the recommended daily amount of magnesium with more and more becoming deficient. Studies show a correlation between an increased need for magnesium replenishment with the more physically active you are. Additionally, magnesium and exercise share a reciprocal relationship in which magnesium supports exercise performance while exercise supports how the body distributes magnesium throughout the body to be utilized most optimally as energy production occurs. Tower+ Electrolyte Mix provides magnesium malate and black pepper extract, allowing for superior absorbency for optimal results. Magnesium malate is particularly beneficial for individuals looking to promote energy levels and maintain physical endurance. In addition, magnesium malate supports cognitive functions such as mental clarity and focus, which might not be as pronounced with other magnesium salts. Black pepper extract’s enzyme properties and unique bioavailability effects have been shown to further promote magnesium absorption by the body.

Tower+ Electrolyte Mix was specifically formulated to help replenish essential minerals lost during workouts or hot days, ensuring you stay hydrated and perform at your peak. Whether you're an athlete looking to support endurance before, throughout or after physical activity, or a hiker looking to keep energized and well hydrated, the prime time to consume electrolytes is when there has been a loss of them. The amount of electrolytes that someone may need to replenish is something to keep in mind when aiming for the right balance; the well-known saying, “too much of a good thing can be bad” does in fact apply to electrolytes. A study analyzing the amount of electrolytes lost through sweat during a 90-minute interval demonstrated an increased loss of electrolytes (sodium, chloride and potassium) through sweat, among those who exercised at a moderate intensity level in comparison to a low intensity interval. When selecting an optimal electrolyte, you want a formulation with a powerful ratio of electrolytes with ingredients that support bioavailability and superior delivery of nutrients — Tower+ Electrolyte Mix has just that! Tower above your expectations with the hydration you need to energize your life with the ultimate on-the-go companion for replenishing the body’s lost electrolytes.

Key Ingredients

Sodium (Dark Pink Himalayan Salt)
Pink Himalayan salt is a naturally occurring mineral from the Punjab region of Pakistan. Its distinctive pink hue results from an array of 84 trace minerals and elements such as iron, calcium and potassium. Unlike regular table salt, pink Himalayan salt is minimally processed and does not contain additives, making it popular for cooking to holistic wellness. Sodium is a vital electrolyte in the human body essential for numerous physiological processes including muscle function, fluid balance and overall metabolic functioning. When dissolved in the body, it dissociates into positively charged ions, allowing it to conduct electrical signals essential for bodily functions. Additionally, by controlling the movement of water across cell membranes, sodium helps regulate fluid and electrolyte balance, thereby supporting hydration.

Potassium (as Potassium Chloride)
Potassium is a vital electrolyte in the body that plays a crucial role in maintaining cellular function and overall physiological balance. As an electrolyte, potassium carries a positive charge and is primarily found inside the cells. One of its primary functions is to help maintain the electrical gradient across cell membranes, which is essential for the proper functioning of muscle cells. By balancing these electrical charges within muscle cells, potassium aids in the process of muscle function. In addition, potassium also helps regulate fluid balance within the body by working in tandem with sodium to manage the movement of fluids in and out of cells and tissues.

Magnesium (as Dimagnesium Malate)
Dimagnesium malate is a compound that combines magnesium with malic acid, playing an important role in maintaining electrolyte balance within the body. As an electrolyte, magnesium is vital for numerous physiological functions, including muscle contraction. When ingested, dimagnesium malate dissociates into magnesium ions and malate ions. The magnesium ions then facilitate the transmission of electrical impulses across cells, which is essential for proper muscle function. Moreover, magnesium acts as a cofactor for various enzymatic reactions involved in energy production and metabolic processes. The malate component, a derivative of malic acid, enters the citric acid cycle (Krebs cycle) and aids in the production of ATP, the energy currency of cells. This dual action ensures that cells have a steady energy supply while maintaining the necessary electrical gradients across cell membranes. By supporting these biochemical and physiological processes, dimagnesium malate helps maintain hydration levels, muscle function and overall cellular health.

Black Pepper Extract (seed)
Black pepper extract is derived from the dried fruit of the Piper nigrum plant. Known for its potent taste and various health benefits, piperine is the active component of black pepper extract. Piperine has been studied for its ability to promote the bioavailability of various nutrients and compounds, making it easier for the body to absorb and utilize them. Additionally, black pepper extract has been shown to help support overall cellular health and well-being.

Other ingredients: Citric acid, lemon-lime flavor, rebaudioside A (stevia).

FAQs

  1. What are electrolytes?
Electrolytes are minerals that are responsible for aiding in chemical reactions, such as maintaining healthy fluid levels throughout the body. There are seven total essential electrolytes required by the body to function properly: sodium, chloride, potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphate and bicarbonates. These electrolytes are vital for survival and specifically classified as essential minerals, meaning they are only acquired by the body through consumption. When these minerals are dissolved in fluid, such as the blood or the body’s cells, they take on their regular form (either negatively or positively charged ions), working to carry out chemical reactions to help regulate specific functions in the body. Some of these functions include maintaining hydration levels and helping the muscles contract.

  2. What is the function of black pepper extract in Tower+ Electrolyte Mix?
Black pepper extract offers unique bioavailability effects that maximize the absorption of nutrients, such as magnesium, into the bloodstream. Black pepper extract supports the permeability of the intestinal lining, making it easier for nutrients to pass through the intestinal wall and into the bloodstream. This supports the absorption rate of various vitamins, minerals and herbal extracts. By supporting the bioavailability of other nutrients, black pepper potentially promotes the delivery of the health benefits of other nutrients in the body.

  3. What are the benefits of pink Himalayan salt?
Largely due to its natural remote location, Himalayan salt is known as the purest in form as it goes through minimal processing and is free of pollutants such as microplastics that other salts naturally encounter from the environment. Pink Himalayan salt also contains the highest amounts of essential trace mineral content in comparison to other forms of salt.

  4. What are the charges of each electrolyte ion?
The positively charged ions are sodium (Na+), potassium (K+), magnesium (Mg2+) and calcium (Ca2+). The negatively charged ions are chloride (Cl-), phosphorus (as hydrogen phosphate, HPO42-) and bicarbonate. Different ions containing positive or negative charges, when diluted in a solution, can conduct electricity. For example, sodium chloride (NaCl) must be dissolved by the body to be split into the two ions, sodium (Na+) and chloride (Cl-), to function as individual electrolytes. The positive charge of the sodium ions and negative charge of the chloride ions create an electrical current moving freely between the positive and negative ions, much like a battery.

  5. What is the adequate recommended daily intake of sodium, potassium, chloride and magnesium?
Tower+ Electrolyte Mix delivers potassium chloride (KCl). Potassium serves as a beneficial electrolyte for helping maintain normal fluid balance. The body requires more daily intake of potassium than sodium, yet the average American generally consumes more sodium than potassium daily, which is largely influenced by processed foods. The suggested adequate amount of daily intake for healthy adults is 1,500 mg of sodium and 3,400 mg (men)/2,600 mg (women) of potassium. In addition to potassium, Tower+ Electrolyte Mix provides the purest form of sodium, dark pink Himalayan salt. Potassium chloride may help provide the adequate daily recommendation of potassium, helping to support the balance of sodium and potassium required by the body. The adequate recommended daily intake of chloride is between 1,800–2,300 mg for adults and magnesium is 400 mg (men)/310 (women).

  6. Which electrolytes are the most important for the body?
The three electrolytes that are of highest importance are sodium, potassium and chloride. Of these three, the most vital and abundant electrolyte ion in the body is sodium. Our body cannot produce it on its own, and it is essential for survival and maintaining healthy fluid levels within the body. Salt, a source of sodium, was historically recognized and used as a prized possession largely due to the value it provided for the body and sustaining life. The word salt stems from the Latin word sal, which is the root of the word “salary.” In fact, salt was traded as payment or salary in medieval times. Salt was such a highly treasured item that it was often refer as “white gold.”

  7. Can you have too many or too few electrolytes?
The key to electrolytes is having a balance to help maintain the body’s proper functioning. When your body has too little or too much of a specific electrolyte, you may notice certain changes. Each electrolyte plays a part in helping maintain the homeostasis of the body. The kidneys filter out any extra electrolytes in the body when an imbalance occurs to help maintain a healthy balance in the body.

  8. What are the main functions of the electrolytes found in Tower+ Electrolyte Mix?
Sodium is recognized as the main positively charged ion that resides in the fluid outside our cells. Its main function is to help to maintain a healthy fluid balance by pairing with chloride to neutralize its charge outside the cells. Sodium also plays a large role in the absorption of nutrients by supporting their passage through the cell membrane. Sodium also acts as a source of energy for the cells by aiding in various bodily functions. Potassium, the primary positively charged intracellular ion, plays a balancing act with sodium to maintain fluid balance of the cells and supports proper muscle contraction. About 60% of the body’s total composition is made up of water, with around two-thirds of water contained inside the cell and one third outside the cell. Of that, potassium accounts for around 98% of the intracellular fluid and only 1–2% of extracellular fluid; this ratio alone demonstrates the importance of potassium in the body for assisting in maintaining overall hydration. Chloride is the primary negatively charged ion, found alongside sodium, in fluid outside of the cells. In addition, chloride helps maintain hydration and fluid levels inside and outside the cell. The two electrolytes, sodium and chloride, neutralize each other since one has a positive and the other has a negative charge, and are recognized as the two most important electrolytes in the blood. Magnesium helps return energy to the body from the nutrients we get from our food and supplements. In doing so, it helps support the brain and muscle function. The majority of magnesium is located within the bones, which is why blood tests are not always the best indicators for determining if someone has a deficiency.

  9. Who should take this product and when?
Tower+ Electrolyte Mix is intended to help replenish electrolytes for hydration and energy. One of the best times to use Tower+ Electrolyte Mix is right after waking up. Some people choose to start their morning with electrolytes to support healthy hydration and maximize their day. Another great time is 20–30 minutes prior to exercising to support healthy muscle activity and endurance. Electrolyte loss may occur through physical activity, excessive sweating, urination and other similar things. Athletes and hikers may find it beneficial to consume this product before or after their exercise to support endurance throughout physical activity or replenish hydration after workouts. Sweating, whether from the summer heat or from the body working extra hard to regulate itself, is another instance in which your body may need additional intake of electrolytes. Tower+ Electrolyte Mix has no added sugar and is sweetened with natural sweetener, making it a healthy hydration alternative to sugary drinks. An optimal electrolyte blend should be easily absorbed to quickly hydrate the body, which is vital for cognitive health, as well as for supporting endurance for physical activity.

  10. Why are more Americans finding they are deficient in magnesium?
Reports show that at least 50% of Americans are not meeting the daily recommended amount of magnesium. An increase in processed and refined foods, present-day agricultural practices and inadequate absorption of magnesium by the body are among the many reasons why so many are finding they are magnesium deficient, largely influencing the popularity of supplementation.

  11. What are the directions for use?
Mix one stick pack with 16–32 oz of water. More or less water may be used depending on taste preferences.

  12. Are there any warnings for this product?
If you are currently using prescription drugs, have an ongoing medical condition, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your healthcare provider before using this product. If you are following a low sodium diet, do not exceed more than two stick packs a day.

Water to the max

Tower gives your water a boost. It mixes well and has a light citrus taste. I'd suggest you use about 20 oz, or it's a little strong. Love this product.

Good Thirst Quencher

I loved it!! The taste was delicious, I drank it as I went on my daily walk. I live in Florida, and the humidity can be brutal. It gave me a slight boost. Also, I was not extremely thirsty while on my walk. The only negative that I must comment on it the sodium. My PCP, has a concern because I of high blood pressure. I would drink it again, and just spread it out of a day and half.

Response from Customer Service:

Thank you for sharing your experience with Tower+™ Electrolyte Mix! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the delicious taste and found it to be a refreshing companion on your daily walks, especially in the Florida humidity. My Electrolyte Review (weightlifting/ running)

Tower electrolyte is a game changer. I tried it for the first time on a hike in Utah. I was extremely dehydrated and when I drank tower, I felt energy coming back to my mind and body.

I have since added it to my daily workout regiment. For weightlifting I like to take it as a pre/ intra workout. The electrolytes helps with muscle fatigue. I feel I can push more weight for extended periods of time. The gym selfies look great because it helps me appear more vascular with a pump.

For running or cardio, I like to take it as an intra/ post workout. I feel fatigued after a long run and sweat a lot. Rehydrating with electrolytes during or after the workout helps me feel more recovered more quickly.
