Aloe ferox and barbadensis (leaf)
Native to Africa, the aloe vera plant has been valued for centuries for its versatile uses and health benefits. The constituents of aloe latex, known as anthraquinone glycosides, are split by the normal bacteria in the large intestines to form other molecules called aglycones, which wield aloe’s laxative effects.† Aloe ferox is especially valued for its laxative properties, while Aloe barbadensis is renowned for its rich polysaccharide content that supports a healthy gut environment. Together, these two forms of aloe work synergistically to deliver well-rounded and balanced digestive support.
